Exploring common ground

This site is a home for explorations into how we can use maps and media to support conversation and collaboration in communities of locality and interest. It follows the work of the Networked City project 2016-2020.

Networked City is a loose framework within which people, projects and organisations can learn how to use mapping, network building, data and technology for community and social benefit.

In parallel I developed the Clerkenwell Commons site as a first demonstration of how to use different types of maps locally. That has now evolved in a project with local groups including the EC1Echo, a community newspaper covering Clerkenwell, and Farringdon in the City of London. More here about Exploring EC1.

As part of that project I developed a Connections blog  to cover developments in Clerkenwell and the City. I have created pages on this site to embed content from different blog categories - e.g. Bartholomew Fair 2023 and Community information hubs.

A Commons system

In Exploring EC1 I've developed a system, with my son Dan, that links a map, data base and information sheets: links below. I'm developing that in more detail with a project in North Kensington which I've written about here. More shortly.
