This grand Flemish Renaissance-style building was built in 1895, a few years after Rosebery Avenue on which it stands, by Clerkenwell Vestry, forerunner to the Metropolitan Borough of Finsbury. It ceased to function as a town hall on the creation of Islington in 1965, and now houses a dance academy.
