This organisation was founded in 1898 by local MP Sir George Masterman Gillett, who set up a social centre for young men at a Quaker meeting house. The nature of the recreation and education it provides has changed significantly over the years, but its mission of fostering community in Clerkenwell has remained constant. The Peel is currently located at the 3 Corners Centre, near the Three Corners Adventure Playground.
