A pub with a radical history befitting its location, the Crown was probably built around 1820. In the late 19th century it was the cosy-sounding Red Star Coffee and Cocoa House, a working men’s café. By the early 1900s it was Lenin’s local – he allegedly met Stalin for a pint here.
